My teaching philosophy stems from a genuine desire to connect with my students and lead them on an artistic journey of healthy and happy singing. I want to empower you. After all, it is YOUR voice! The uniqueness of you is our best tool in unlocking all the beauty of your voice.

Firstly, we always focus on technique from a thorough, science-based knowledge of the physiology and anatomy of the voice, ensuring that we keep your voice healthy and safe. I am a great believer in training every part of the voice. Having a strong connection to your entire instrument will strengthen your ability to be an adaptable and multifaceted artist. And make no mistake, this is a full body experience! For all of my students, including those who are not professional singers, feeling connected to your breath and body in the context of singing is a phenomenal feeling that can be applied to many aspects of your life.

Secondly, we can never forget that singing should be FUN! Too often, I see students and peers become so obsessed with success that they forget they actually enjoy the art of singing. The best moments and break throughs will always happen when there is a sense of fun and enjoyment in the room. Remember, you love to sing!

Thirdly, I have the real-world experience of what it takes to be a professional singer in the industry, performing 8 shows a week on Off-Broadway, Broadway National Tours, and in regional houses all over the country. I am well aware of the struggles professional singers face and I use my knowledge as both performer and teacher to help you navigate this difficult terrain. I am also no stranger to the ever-changing environment of the audition room and am here to give you the power and confidence you need to succeed in the room.
